Why you should come to the Canada vs. Ecuador match on June 1 at BMO Field

3 May

Because it’ll be fun.

Even if you’re not a fan of soccer, soccer matches can be a lot of fun.  There’s singing, yelling, chanting, jumping up and down, and a soccer match going on in the background.  Plus, you can show some good ole national pride for the Maple Leaf.  See my post last week pertaining to this issue.

And it’s only $17.  Seriously.  It’s only a few dollars more than the cheapest seat up in the 500 level at Jays games, about the same as the cheapest seat to a Toronto Raptors game, and MUCH less than it would cost to see the Leafs.  Furthermore, it’s $10 cheaper (plus all the Ticketbastard fees) than what you’d be paying to watch Toronto FC from the exact same seat.  It’s also higher quality soccer than TFC.

I know that Canada’s FIFA ranking doesn’t match up to the top European sides, but their caliber of player is still going to be higher than that of an average Major League Soccer player.  Take Canadian National Team player Atiba Hutchinson, for example.

Atiba plays for PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Eredivise.  They are likely going to finish 2nd in their league this year, qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League, and continue to be one of the most well known soccer clubs in Europe.  Atiba is a starter on that team.  Also, he won the Danish Super Liga Player of the Year for his 2009/10 season for FC Copenhagen.  He is a quality player who will, in all likelihood, be playing in the match against Ecuador.

Anyways, tickets are available here or let me know if you’d like to sit with Him and Her at the match and I will take that into consideration when I purchase my block of tickets.
